So I survived my surgery and the stay in hospital was quite nice and thankfully they only needed to do half the job they thought they would so my recovery was rather swift and incident free.

So boys don’t be afraid to get your nether regions checked out and do see you doctor early – another case in point was my stepfather who is fit and hale and went to the dr wondering why he was out of puff on climbing hills on the bike and three days later he was having a triple bypass! He’s all good now, recovering well but driving my mother crazy with his impatience.

As I had pretty much no paperwork or planning to do, I did succumb to a wee bit of boredom, but I soldiered through with audio-books, books and movies.

I was able to get back on the bike much earlier than forecast and although for the first half dozen rides I had a moment of temporary discomfort that soon went away, all was super duper. I was and am being very sensible in my recovery, so w00t.

Being a typical spring here, it’s been hot and windy and wet, I have some decent tan lines now, my hay-fever is under control and my right foot is sweet, although the left foot is saying hello, it’s not too bad yet, but it does get me thinking about having the surgery next year if it continues to play up in the heat.

But after all that talk of boredom I did start planning and preparation for the 2020 summer season of Alto Cycle Tours and it’s awesome conclusion of a week long tour in Victoria, Australia.

Also planning for our own fun domestic trip/holiday due in August.

Planning for 2020 Flahute Season has also finished and I and excited about what is going to happen.

Haven is ticking along nicely, getting a wee bit overgrown in places as I wasn’t able to spray or mow post-surgery but that will be sorted next month, we also have a bunch of new tracks to kick into for 2020.

Candy’s injury recovery is going great guns, even though that means no running, but now the end is in sight with a return to running (sensible) in the New Year. She is making up for it with gym strengthening, biking and hiking.

Stairway to Heaven

There’s a lady who’s sure
All that glitters is gold
And she’s buying a stairway to heaven
When she gets there she knows
If the stores are all closed
With a word she can get what she came for
Oh oh oh oh and she’s buying a stairway to heaven
There’s a sign on the wall
But she wants to be sure
‘Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings
In a tree by the brook
There’s a songbird who sings
Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiving
Ooh, it makes me wonder
Ooh, it makes me wonder
There’s a feeling I get
When I look to the west
And my spirit is crying for leaving
In my thoughts I have seen
Rings of smoke through the trees
And the voices of those who standing looking
Ooh, it makes me wonder
Ooh, it really makes me wonder
And it’s whispered that soon, If we all call the tune
Then the piper will lead us to reason
And a new day will dawn
For those who stand long
And the forests will echo with laughter
If there’s a bustle in your hedgerow
Don’t be alarmed now
It’s just a spring clean for the May queen
Yes, there are two paths you can go by
But in the long run
There’s still time to change the road you’re on
And it makes me wonder
Your head is humming and it won’t go
In case you don’t know
The piper’s calling you to join him
Dear lady, can you hear the wind blow
And did you know
Your stairway lies on the whispering wind
And as we wind on down the road
Our shadows taller than our soul
There walks a lady we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show
How everything still turns to gold
And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last
When all are one and one is all
To be a rock and not to roll
And she’s buying the stairway to heaven
